Marlow Page 2

Here's the "first" "Marlow" page that will be appearing in Dario Carrasco's upcoming previews comic for Comic-Con in July. We're doing this one (for Dario's preview) in B&W, but rest assured the final comic will be in full color. Well, that's the plan right now, anyway. This should give you a taste of the rest of the comic book.

As noted in prior posts, this story was inspired by Joseph Conrad's "Heart of Darkness." I wanted to translate Conrad's 19th Century concerns over European colonialism into more relevant concerns over blurred boundaries, globalization, and a world where distinct cultures are not only impossible, but laughable.


Being a "zombie" is not just about walking the earth as a shambling undead. It can also be about living an unexamined life, or believing in something (or someone) without any good reason. There are many reasons, in this new world of ours, to be afraid of zombiedom, most especially the ones that are so obviously apart of our lives. In this new, globalized world where our culture, ideas, and beliefs are constantly in flux ("Embrace change!"), why think or care about it? Why believe in anything? Why not just follow the process of change... and be processed?

That's what "Marlow" is about.
